"The only thing that I know for sure, is that you are the best thing that's ever happened to me"
The title might be little distracting but it's very much related to what I'm gonna write below :). I was sitting with this long face and so lost in my own world of thoughts... and that's when my sister pulled me and forced me to watch this movie- Predestination with her. As I reluctantly agreed and started watching it, I definitely wanna thank her for doing me this favour today!
Predestination- A 2014 classy Science-Fiction thriller is definitely become one of my favourite movies. I loved the way the movie is directed and made. It's like I've finally watched a satisfying movie in a long time. The one saddest part is I got to watch this movie only now :(. But it's always better late than never :-)
This movie revolves around a temporal agent with the concept of time/ space travelling. A secretive government agency which tries to stop all the bad events from happening by travelling in the past. They've also got a restriction of travelling either backwards/ forward 53 years from the year the whole time travelling concept began which is 1981.
The way the whole story is taken from the beginning to the end is mind boggling. This story is so thought provoking and made me sit at the edge throughout and kept me guessing the next scene.
Sarah Snook and Ethan Hawke have did amazing justice to their characters. Just with few characters: A Baby, Jane, John, Agent Doe, Robertson and the Fizzle Bomber (a terrorist) the director has made magic.
The sequence where Sarah explains how she (Jane) changed to (John) and about the "
Unmarried Mother"-the column that John writes in a leading magazine left me in tears. It's not an easy task for anyone who undergoes gender change. They have to prepare themselves physically, mentally and socially! They have beautifully depicted the pain Jane goes through to become John and how she tries to 'fit-in' as a man.. Whoa!! My respect towards the whole bi-sexual clan in this society have raised way above than I've ever imagined.
The predestination paradox explained in this movie kept me intrigued till the end when the agent Mr. Doe reveals that he himself is the baby, jane, john and the fizzle bomber himself. I couldn't take my mind off how beautifully each scene is co-related to each other and the thrill of knowing the next still lingers inside me.
There ain't any grey areas that I would cover coz I loved the movie entirely with the direction (hands down the best-it's amazing how creatively a person could think), writing, music, the dialogues, cinematography and above all the acting. No one can escape from falling in love with Sarah's acting- just amazing!! This movie's been added in my favourites list- forever :)
I would give a 10/10 for this movie :)
Overall,
it's a must watch movie and I would recommend to everyone and especially who loves Sci-Fi movies. For all the movie buffs, this would just be a breadcrumb and would suggest you'll to watch this movie to enjoy the experience of 'space travelling'
Happy Travelling!!
