The Leaf men and the Brave Good Bugs!

"Life is too beautiful- Just because you haven't seen something doesn't mean it's not there"
It was 5:07 PM and I was waiting near the lift in my building to get to the ground floor from the 4th floor where I work. I was running late to catch my bus that day. I somehow managed to grab a cycle the moment I reached down and moved as fast as I could to the ‘bus bay’. Luckily for me, I reached there at 5:14 which means I still had 6 whole minutes for my bus- Yeah that was a relief. I then let myself in the security gates, swiping my smart card parallel tossing my bags in the scanner.

I walked quickly to the shop that stands at the entrance of the bus bay, got a water bottle and somehow managed to find my bus and most importantly a window seat. Phew! What-a-day! What-a-day!. Indeed it was a long and hard day and it was too relaxing as I slowly pushed my seat back and sat there as the bus started moving. Gently the breeze hit my tired face as I adjusted the windows a bit. I could have used a good sleep, but I preferred scrolling through my mobile as I was reminded of having a movie that I had copied days back!

I clicked opened the movie and there it was, a female voice with these lines:  “Someone told me that if you stand still in the forest long enough you’ll see signs of a hidden struggle, raging between the forces of life and decay”. This was so refreshing that I totally wanted to watch this movie.

So then started the movie “EPIC” where little leaf men started flying and huge cameras recording their moves. Epic is an animation movie released in 2013. Directed by Chris Wedge based on the story “The Leaf men and the Brave Good Bugs” starring Amanda Seyfried as Mary Katherine (MK) who’s the female lead, Josh Hutcherson as Nod-The little leaf man slash warrior! And our very one Beyonce as the queen of the forests who looks stunning even in an animated version!

The story continues as the queen of the forests who happens to have magical powers, gives life to a little pod in an attempt of saving the forest from the ‘Mandrakes’-which is the evil force that’s trying to destroy the forests. Meanwhile, Mary Katherine or MK as she’s called in the movie comes to visit her father, a biologist or an obsessed man trying to prove the existence of little men inside the forests. It’s after 20 long years they both reunite and MK’s unable to bear the obsessive nature of her dad and tries to flee from the place when her dad runs into the forest as one of his sensors beeped indicating that one of the 100 cameras he planted had captured something interesting.

But all changes when MK had to go searching behind her pet pug that runs into the forests when she opened the doors to leave. In parallel, the queen is battling her life as she is hit by the Mandrakes in an attempt to capture the pod. So what’s MK had to do with the queen, the pod and obviously the handsome lad ‘Nod’ who is a rookie leaf man in the queens army  is something you gotta find out!!

Disney is my favorite and to be honest, this movie made me sit in the edges till the end. The first 40 minutes of the movie is more amazingly shot and I had Goosebumps all the time!! I even got emotional in few sequences and got all teary forgetting I’m in my bus travelling! Extremely creative story and the way each character is designed is a pure genius’s work. The background music is the biggest score for this entire story.

This movie has all the elements you are looking for: Romance- The sweet, flirtatious romance between MK and Nod, The strong, confident and deeper romance between the queen and the head warrior, Love between a father and a daughter, Comedy, Action, Thrillers, Emotions and story! Obviously!! So this will never disappoint any of you. It also teaches us to respect lives how small or big it might be which is the bottom line to life's unwritten rules.

Though I felt certain areas could have been handled better, But I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone and especially to all those animation movie lovers. It’s definitely an ‘Epic’ movie! It was an awesome 1 hour and 40 minutes that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Music: 10/10 | Story: 9.5/10 | Cinematography: 10/10 | Fun Element: 10/10 | Bonus: This is from the creators of "Ice-Age".
